lawmakers to sell the embattled health care law to a skeptical public. we'll speak to an architect of obama care, but joining me now is is rand paul. welcome back. >> good morning. >> before we get to obama care, i want to talk to you about your trip to detroit this week where you helped open the first of what are going on several republican outreach centers and inner cities. you also unveiled your plan for economic freedom zones in depressed areas. let's take a look at that plan. you had sent a flat individual and corporate tax rate with 5%. give parents more school choice and education tax credits and loosen visa rules to encourage entrepreneurs to open businesses. while those are all good ideas, you've got to pour more government money into those inner cities if you're going to make a difference. >> well, chris, it hasn't worked. the president pours a trillion dollars into the nation's economy when you divided it out, it was about $400,000 per child. the problem with a government stimulus is you pick the winners and loser rs. with this stimulus i'm talking about, a free market stimulus,

is here and ready to roll. is an obama care bailout already in the works? the white house offering insurance companies something you probably never heard about but should. >>> first it was broken promises over keeping your doctor and your health plan. now this. >> no more taxpayer funded bailouts, period. >> this week the white house quietly offering insurance companies another obama bailout. it would offset costs for reinstating policies cancelled due to the health care law. this is on top of a trillion dollars we're giving insurers to offer more affordable coverage. michelle, guess who is going to pay for another bailout. >> here he is basically buying out insurance companies on top of providing them with a trillion dollars in subsidies for the next ten years and now we learn about a little known provision that basically says if insurance companies suffer losses three years after the implementation of obama care, we are the ones who are going to reimburse and compensate insurance companies for their losses. it's ridiculous. >> risk corridor is going to cost a trillion dollars and
companies and obama care in and of itself is a bailout. this is not a government takeover of health care as so many of your guests say on a weekly basis. you can't have it both ways. this programbrings 31 million new customers into their bank accounts. >> let's be honest, john. >> what part of this isn't controlled by government. it hits the nail on the head. this isn't capitalist, liberty, this isn't america. this is fascism, an economy that's supposedly privately owned but in reality, completely controlled, manipulated and as michelle said subsidized by government. we have billions of taxpayer dollars going to those -- i thought they were evil. they were supposedly evil. >> they are. >> the insurance companies to offset their losses, to share in their profits, subsidies for them and the unions get a free pass. this is obama's animal farm. >> when we were researching the story we pulled up that video tape of president obama and guess how he ended that sentence again, period. no more taxpayer funded bailouts, period. michelle, help me out here. >> what bothers me is that it seems every m

put forward, if they're saying we need to end obama care, they're going to be taking away health insurance from people who have had it for a while. and that itself can be a powerful counterattack. but interestingly enough, it's not just democratic government who's embracing this, it's a handful of republican governors as well. and i think that that is a really revealing sort of point. governor kasich of ohio said the reason we're doing the medicaid expansion is it's a human issue, it's a moral issue that these people need to be covered. and i feel like those voices are going to begin to get more attention as well. >> so, susan, suzy is not wrong on this point, one of the things that republicans are right about when they have angst about the government, that once it is implemented, it is hard to go take it away. so this point that once people have the obama care, talking about repealing it or taking it back becomes a very different issue than having never implemented it. does that mean it's sort of the end of that repeal discussion going forward? >> well, the repeal portion, yes.

. >>> top maryland official in charge of obama exchange, did you hear this? reportedly resigning now. that would be the first official to leave a job since the troubled rollout of the health care law. national correspondent live in washington. steve, what do you hear about this one? >> jamie, it's not only that federal obama care website you hear so much about that had its difficulties, the state as well. rebecca pierce in charge of the troubled website run by the state of maryland resigned friday. according to our baltimore affiliates, some lawmakers are hinting she was forced out. the maryland website signed up just over 3,000 people by november 23rd and only 700 more people one week later. the goal by the end of march is 150,000. lieutenant governor saying things clearly did not go as planned. >> everyone involved in launching the exchange is responsible and that includes me. >> meantime republicans continue to point out the shortcomings of obama care. here is rand paul. >> we're for competition. we're for selling insurance across state lines. above all we're for driving premiums

. health care salvageable to you? >> no, i really don't think so. i think obama care is still unworkable, unpopular, and unfundable. what this is is a program that has accelerated our path to a single-payer system even though the president denies this. harry reid's comment, i mean, that was a classic case of what are you going to believe, your lying eyes or me? your lying neighbors and their narratives about how hard it is to work into the program, how skyrocketing their health care kobss is under this new program. this is a case where repeal is the only logical way of avoiding a catastrophe. >> susan, does the president in this argument, and he's not going to repeal -- he's not going to let this law get repealed, does he have new juice because the website horror stories are trickling downward. the economy is looking like not great but better. does he gather some new steam from this? >> i think it's one of the cases where the reality will matter. obviously the website is working better for consumers but we don't know how well it's working for working with the insurers getting these peopl

governors, others by republican governors and how you slice it. health insurance cancellation issue, paying more for premiums issues, getting on board with the website itself. it's a consistent theme. >> i think that the obama administration is really worried about this at this point, the fact that you will see 45 million individuals are going to have canceled policies by the end of the year and they have to be signed up by january the first. not enough people are signing up to get this process moving. so not only do they have a pr problem, but they can't even they have the ad campaigns are trying to bring in people to sign up quite frankly, you have small-business owners are very concerned, scared to death because of the mere fact that they are going to have fewer hours for a lot of the employees and it's going to impact, you know, the businesses overall. >> you could win a million dollars, but be odds are stacked against you because you're going against the house. thank you both very much and have a wonderful weekend. >> thank you so much. neil: there is another problem with the health c
